Teja says take it or leave it

Director Teja has lost none of his arrogance or straight talk that he likes to call. He said post-Kalayanaramudu that he has proved that he can make both hit as well as flop films. He said that most of the films that are being made now are just bullshit.

He says that he is the only director who does not make films for heroes. He says that he only brings the story onto the screen. He doesn’t care whether the audience loves his film or not. H will continue to make films his way. It is up to the audience to decide. With such brutal honesty, Teja is lucky to find producers backing him.

Trisha has achieved almost everything in the film industry- she is the No 1 actress in Tamil and Telugu. There are talks about offers from Bollywood but she is waiting for a brilliant story and a perfect launch vehicle. She is the nation-wide brand ambassador of a multinational softdrink company.

So, everybody is curious to know about her marriage plans and romance.
What has she got to say about it?

"Falling in love is all about completely understanding the man. I never had the opportunity until now. I also don't have the time these days. You'd feel like understanding a man only when you meet someone like that. But, I still haven't come across anyone who made me want to. I believe in customs and tradition. But I also believe that the person must gain financial independence before getting into marriage.

"I don't like the concept of gender-based discrimination. Men almost always get more freedom than women do. I'm looking for a man who'll give me the freedom that I need," she ended.

That sounds both easy and difficult!!!

Abhishek-Ash to marry in Jodhpur?

Rajasthan is rolling out the red carpet for the marriage of none other than actors Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai. Umaid Bhavan Palace may be the ceremony venue for Aishwarya and Abhishek, usually well informed sources say.

Amitabh Bachchan has sent a couple of his close friends to Jodhpur to finalise the hotel bookings. Besides Umaid Bhavan, as many as four other hotels are to be booked in Jodhpur and Jaisalmer for the marriage ceremonies.

The Bachchans want these hotels booked for a period of three days from March 18. The marriage is expected to take place March 19, these sources said.

However, March being tourism season in Rajasthan, they are finding it difficult to get the required number of rooms in both the cities, the sources said.

Close friends of the Bachchans who are camping in Jodhpur for the last couple of days have started to look for other hotels nearby, the sources said. These include Khimsar Fort, Balsamand Palace and Rohet Fort.

Earlier, the marriage ceremony was slated to take place in Jaipur's City Palace premises but later the Bachchans decided that Jodhpur it would be.

Sources, however, said so far nothing has been finalised. As directed by astrologers, the Bachchan family is interested in tying the knot as soon as possible.

Before that though, Umaid Bhavan will play host to the much talked about post-wedding parties of Hurley and Nayar. The two will marry in London Saturday after which they will hold celebrations in Mumbai and Jodhpur.

Preparations for the party are reportedly in full swing in Jodhpur where the couple have booked the hotel from March 7-10. The couple will hold two more parties at the imposing Mehrangarh Fort on March 9 and the pretty red sandstone structure, Balsamand Palace, 5 km from Jodhpur, March 10.

It is, of course, Umaid Bhavan Palace, that is the most sought after. Perched high above Jodhpur, it is the last of the great palaces of India and one of the largest residences in the world - set amidst 26 acres of lush gardens.

This golden-yellow sandstone monument was conceived on the grandest possible scale, in the fashionable Art Deco style of that time.

After 15 years of construction, the 347-room palace was finally completed in 1943 - and has served as the principal residence of the Jodhpur royal family since.

Designed by renowned Edwardian architect Henry Lanchester, the palace is a blend of Eastern and Western architectural influences. A part of the palace is still the residence of the royal family and another section house a museum displaying a range of antiques from the royal past. The hotel portion has 64 rooms, including 40 suites, and is now a part of Taj group of hotels.

Hollywood star couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt had also stayed there during their recent India visit.

An image make over?

Srikanth, best known for family-oriented movies is consciously shedding that soft hero image. Of late he is increasingly doing mass oriented films.

And in his next film Operation Duryadhona, he appears with clean shaved head. He has completely changed his getup for this political drama. Not only that he appears with tonsured head, he also romances with a vamp Mumaith Khan in the film.

Though Kalyani is paired with him, it is Mumaith who romances him in the film as a lady politician. Operation Duryadhona is directed by writer Posani Krishnamurali.

Tehelka's sting operation in which Members of Parliament were caught on camera for taking bribe seems to be the inspiration for the film. The talkie portion of Operation Duryadhona has been completed.

Mumaith Khan - An exception

They say venturing into films through item numbers makes an actress difficult to get out of it. There are many girls who have failed to get into character roles after debuting with item numbers but Mumaith Khan is an exception.

She begun her career in Telugu as ‘item girl’ and caught the limelight through the number “Ippatikinka Ninda Padhare” in ‘Pokiri’. After acting in a number of hit songs, she has turned to character roles.

The girl from Mumbai has started getting roles with equal footage to that of the heroines. She played the role of a cop in the hit film ‘Evadaithey Nakenti’. She also plays a lady politician in Srikanth’s ‘Operation Duryodhona’.

Now she has signed as one of the three heroines in Venu Madhav’s film ‘Bhu Kailas’.
Yet again, she has signed another untitled Telugu film, where she would play a cop again. It looks like this girl is heading towards something big.

Oscar eludes Water

Deepa Mehata's Water failed to win the Oscar but not before it made Indians proud by getting into the final rounds as a nomination from Canada. The movie that had John Abrahm and Lisa Ray in the lead lost to Germany's "The Lives of Others" in the foreign language category.

Readers would remember that the crew had to shoot the movie in Srilanka owing to protests from various political corners in India. Though the movie could not emerge as the winner, most of the movie personalities who saw the movie were very much impressed and appreciated the crew for their work.

Though water has lost, it has won many acclaim for the Indian film industry though the movie was a Canadian entry.
