Chiranjeevi turns 54

In the midst of political crises in his newly-launched Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) with a section of legislators advising him to merge the party with the ruling Congress, mega star turned politician Chiranjeevi celebrates his 54th birthday on August 22! Chiranjeevi was born in 1955 to Konidela Venkat Rao and Anjana Devi in Mogultoor. Fondly called 'Chiru', Chiranjeevi is listed among the top 50 powerful men in India.

Chiranjeevi started his film career with a small role in Punadi Rallu, directed by Raj Kumar in 1978. Although it was his first film, his first release was Pranam Kharidu (1978), after which he was offered a series of small villain's roles in films like Manavoori Pandavulu and Adavi Donga. In 1979, Chiranjeevi had eight releases and by its last quarter, his popularity began.

It was during the 80s that Chiranjeevi rose as a real star. With his roles in Punnami Naagu (1980) and Nyayam Kavali (1981), he received equal appreciation from critics and audiences. The turning point came with Khaidi (1983), which fetched him immediate stardom and marked the beginning of his dominance in Tollywood.

Some of his blockbusters include Abhilasha (1983), Challenge (1984), Pasivadi Pranam (1987), Athaku Yamudu Ammayiki Mogudu (1989), Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari (1990), Kodama Simham (1990), Gang Leader (1991), Rowdy Alludu (1991) and Gharana Mogudu (1992).

After a low phase during the mid 1990s, Chiranjeevi made a comeback in the late 1990s with another series of blockbusters including Master (1997), Choodalani Vundi (1998), Bavagaru Bagunnara (1998) and Sneham Kosam (1999). With an ideology of social democracy, he entered the political arena and established Praja Rajyam Party in 2008.

Chiranjeevi married Surekha, daughter of yesteryears renowned comedian Allu Rama Lingaiah; they have two daughters (Sushmita and Sreeja) and a son Ram Charan Tej. Sushmita is married to a Chennai-based busines man Vishnu Prasad and Sreeja to Sirish Bharadwaj. Ram Charan Tej debuted in films with Chirutha, followed by the recent blockbuster Magadheera.

Naga Chaitanya's new film launched

Even before the finishing of his first film Naga Chaitanya has bagged his second film with none other than Goutham Menon. The ace director is directing the film for Manjula who is producing this film.

The initial puja of the film saw Krishna and his family along with Rama Naidu and Nagarjuna. The puja was performed at Annapoorna Studio. The music of the film is by A R Rehman. The other details of the film are expected.

The four big movies creates hype

Movie lovers are very anxiously waiting for four films since many days. The first film Ram Charan’s “Magadheera” at last released and very much pleased the audiances. Another film Naga Chaitanya’s ‘Jhosh” is also has big expectations from the movie lovers and scheduled to release very soon.

Of course, everyone expects yet another ‘Aparichitudu’ from Vikram’s forthcoming film “ Mallanna ,” because of the hype created with the super combination of Vikram and hot girl Sriya Though, her name in the film is Subba Lakshmi, the stills released so far shows her as a very modern girl. The timing of the film release perfectly fits for the movie lovers as it is releasing on 21st of August, just days before the Ganesh Puja celebrations.

The last but not the least Pawan Kalyan’s prolonged film “Komaram Puli.” The title itself is making anxious Power Star fans. As the anxiety grows, the shooting of the film is also prolonged due to many unknown reasons. It seems Pawan Kalyan is in no hurry to finish his film and taking his own time to finish his job. Hope, the film will be ready before this festive session.

Quick Gun Murugan posters rock in Mumbai malls

It is nice to see our Telugu actor becoming popular at International level. It is none other than Dr Rajendra Prasad whose latest flick is ‘Quick Gun Murugan’. The concept and story of Quick Gun Murugan’ is provided by Rajesh Devraj and is directed by Sashank Ghosh.

‘Quick Gun Murugan’ that has been screened in many International film festivals is already popular as QGM among the movie buffs. What is more interesting is that the creative posters of QGM are seen inside few of the Mumbai malls at appropriate spots with apt wordings which are attracting the crowds like ‘Leave the guns here I say’ at the entrance, ‘Leave the ladies I say’ and ‘What a relief I say’ which has managed to bring a smile to the shoppers as they enter and leave the wash rooms.

This much awaited film made simultaneously in English, Hindi and Tamil is sure to bring our hero a special recognition with his portrayal of South Indian cowboy. This apart, our South Indian hottie, Rambha, will be seen in a special role called Mango Dolly. So those who are waiting to take a glimpse of our super hero get set to watch ‘Quick Gun Murugan’ – Mind it!

Legal notice to Allu Aravind ?

Film Magadheera Producer Allu Aravind was served with legal notice by S.P. Chary the author of Telugu Novel “Chanderi” over the copy rights issue. He claims that the film Magadheera story is straightaway copied from his novel “Chanderi” written by him some years ago for a Telugu weekly magazine. He demanded an unconditional apology from Allu Aravind and a suitable compensation for unauthorised usage of his story for his film. In his legal notice, Chary warned Allu Aravind unless he replies him within a week time, he would be obliged to go for a legal battle against him.

Though, he is seeking Allu Aravind’s attention in this regard since the release of the film, Allu didn’t bothered to give him an ear regarding this issue.. Hope, the legal notice would make him open his mouth soon.

Jr. NTR's superb dance

Jr. NTR gave a big scare to film makers and all his fans after he was injured in a road accident while returning to Hyderabad after campaigning for the Telugu Desam party during the assembly elections.

NTR had injured his back and there were some doubts about his ability to do action scenes and dances like before after his injury.

However Jr. NTR has put all such speculation to rest with a superb dance show for a song for his upcoming film Adurs VV Vinayak is the director.

The song was shot on NTR recently and those who watched him dance said that NTR danced superbly and it was even better than what he could do before he met with the accident.

Rajendra Prasad to make world's largest dosa

Comedy king Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the hero of Quick Gun Murugun, has decided to enter the Guinness Book of World Records by preparing the largest dosa in the world. He would do this at Sankalp restaurant in Ahmedabad on Wednesday. Notably, Sankalp restaurant is the current Guinness record holder with a 30-feet-long dosa.

Sixteen cooks will help him make the world's largest dosa and his target is to break the record in less than 40 minutes. "We are going to break our own previous record of a 30-feet dosa. We will make a 31-feet dosa on Wednesday at our SG Road outlet. The dosa will be known as Quick Gun Murugun dosa," Sankalp general manager Jolly Christian said. Scheduled for an August 28 release, Quick Gun Murugan is produced by Fox Star Studios.

Vivek Krishnani of Fox Star Studios said: "Quick Gun Murugun is a quirky sambhar comedy. Since the film promotes the importance of vegetarian food, we thought it would be a good idea to make Prasad promote vegetarianism by making this South Indian delicacy of a size never made before."

Quick Gun Murugan, the protagonist, is a cowboy fighting for the virtues of vegetarian food, while the villain advocates non-vegetarian dishes. This film is a satire on the war between veg and non-veg food enthusiasts.

Brahmalokam to Yamalokam (via Bhulokam)

Comedy king Dr. Rajendra Prasad’s new film Brahmalokam to Yamalokam (via Bhulokam) was launched at Rama Naidu Studios on August 16. D. Rama Naidu sounded the clapboard, Bhoomika (also spelt Bhumika) and her husband Bharat Thakur switched on the camera and Allari Naresh directed the first shot.

Being directed by writer Gollapati Nageshwara Rao, the film is produced by Bekkam Venugopal and Rupesh D. Gohil under the banner of Lucky Media and Utopia Productions Pvt. Ltd. M.M. Srilekha is scoring the music.

"I stayed away from Telugu films for a year, since I was doing the English film Quick Gun Murugan. This movie with a gripping story is a family entertainer with fantasy elements. I play the role of Lord Brahma," Rajendra Prasad said on the occasion.

'Magadheera' Special Show For MLAs In INOX

Chiranjeevi has decided to screen a special show fore all MLAs of AP State Legislative Assembly at INOX theatre 7:30 PM today (Tuesday 18th Aug 2009). Chiranjeevi discussed on phone sitting in his PRP chamber inside Assembly Bhawan regarding the arrangements for special screening. This special show is being arranged on the pressure of all MLAs of all parties.

Vanga Geetha and Kanna Babu of PRP said that they are being ridiculed by other party MLAs for not being able to arrange tickets for the movie in which their party leader's son acted.

The tickets were issued for MLAs around 4-5 each to make them watch film with all of their family members.

Uday Kiran-Swetha Basu’s romance begins

Lover boy Uday Kiran is back again to do yet another youthful romantic entertainer. This film which is yet to be titled had its formal launch on August 16th, at Saibaba temple in Ranigunj, Secunderabad. After the formal pooja was held dialogue writer Janardhan Maharshi presented the film’s script to director Subha Selvam.

D Kumar and Eeswar Varaprasad are jointly producing this film under Sri Venkateswara Swamy Films banner. Swetha Basu Prasad (KBL & Ride fame) is the heroine of the film. The regular shooting will begin on August 23.

On the occasion Uday Kiran said, “This is a feel good film with a soft love story. It will be made with all required commercial elements. I believe that this movie will give a good break to my career.”

NTR launches Brindavanam in style

NTR’s new film titled Brindavanam was formally launched at Annapoorna Studios, Hyderabad.

The hero peformed the puja in the presence of Nagarjuna who clapped the muhurat shot.

The flick will be produced by Dil Raju, while Vamsi Paidipalli, who made his debut as director with Prabhas’ flick Munna, is making his second venture.

Dil Raju said that the film would be releasing for the Summer-2010. Director Vamsi Paidipalli maintained that it took him three years to ready the pucca script and he expressed hope that it would definitely reach the expectations of all the NTR fans and the general audiences.

Taman scores the music, while Chota K. Naidu, the favorite of Dil Raju, will handle the camera.

Nagarjuna to do a bilingual film

Radha Mohan, who recently directed Trisha starrar Aakashamantha… may direct Nagarjuna’s next film, says a source. The bilingual film, which is to be simultaneously made in Tamil and Telugu, would mark the reentry of Nagarjuna in Tamil industry after Rakshakudu.

It is said that Nagarjuna decided to rope in Radha Mohan to his next venture after watching Aakashamantha.

According to sources, Anushka is serious about settling in Hyderabad permanently and the actress is enquiring to purchase a villa at a range of Rs three crore in Hyderabad, say sources.

It is said that she is looking out for a palatial house in 'Cyber Meadows', a very affluent residential area in Kondapur, Hyderabad.

The latest buzz is that the Saif Ali Kan, the producer of Love Aaj Kal have been offered Rs. 4 crores for the Tamil and Telugu remake rights of Love Aaj Kal. True? "Yes, we has already received several offers.

There have been enquiries for the Tamil and Telugu language rights. In fact, we got an offer within 3 days of its release. But we're adopting a wait and watch stance right now. We haven't taken a call yet," tells a source from the production house.

Police seized Sneha’s morphed images

Cyber crime officials have captured numerous images of Sneha from her tormentor Raghavendra, who was arrested recently following a complaint from the actress. Apart from the morphed images of Sneha with him, Raghavendra was also in possession of various images of her taken apparently without her knowledge in shooting spots.

His seized mobile phone also contained messages that were sent to Sneha. The messages are being probed into for further investigations. The cyber crime officials are also planning to interrogate Sneha in this regard as part of the investigations.

Swine flu effect: Genelia sells tickets at counter

As the theatres in Mumbai and Pune have opened for audiences, ‘Life Partner’ stars Fardeen Khan, Genelia, Tusshar Kapoor and Prachi Desai sold tickets at Gaiety theatre, Bandra to promote their film.

Last week the film was not opened in regular time as the theatres are closed of Swine flu scare. Even now also there is no crowd at the theatres due to the Swine Flu scare. So the unit came with a plan and Genelia and others are selling the tickets at the theatres.
